Bomb apparently meant for Chinese kills Pakistanis instead:

And in early July, three Chinese workers killed and one wounded by militants:

And in 2006, three Chinese engineers shot dead:

And in 2004, another three blown up and many injured by a car bomb:

It seems the recent Red Mosque siege also began with the abduction of some Chinese nationals.
It's odd, though, given that the Chinese are Pakistan's biggest ally. Maybe the militants hope that by attacking the Chinese, they can discredit or weaken the credibility and security of the Musharraf government.

The Islamist terrorists in Pakistan will attack anyone. Remember they need to create attention in order to achieve their aims of terrorism. These terrorists attack even their fellow Pakistani muslims. By attacking the Chinese they can create more attention to make themselves appear more pervasive. Also the terrorists can scapegoat their problems on the minority Chinese as a foolish and cowardly means of disguising underlying problems. Throughout history a minority is usually scapegoated to disguise the problems of a majority group, the most evident example is the Jewish population during Nazi Germany.
