Your middle name? Like your generation name? Do you have any cousins born around the same time? Sometimes several family members will carry the same generation name. I don't think anyone would be able to give you a definitive answer because knowing the names of your grandfather and father is not enough.

It's because i don't have any cousin that has a chinesse name... i live in Indonesia. Several decades ago, chinesse name prohibited. So i lost my generation name. Do you know someone who can help?

Possible steps;

1. find out which geographic region you're from (e.g. fujian province) then which village.

2. Take a trip to China, and visit the region.

3. Find the location with the highest concentration of Lin at the vicinity of the village you've identified.

4. visit the ancestral temple (probably about 20 - 30 of them)

5. Get records and try to match to your grandparents/father middle name.

OR

there isn't a specific pattern for your middle name, and it is generated ad-hoc basis.
